Since its addition to the program in 1992, thousands of TAN travelers have enjoyed vacations at the Myrtle Beach Resort, TAN’s premier home property in South Carolina. In preparation for the upcoming record-breaking summer season (we’ve already sold out!), TAN’s property management team has been working hard to spruce up this beloved desTANation. The extensive renovations, which started in October 2006, are scheduled to be completed by the end of March.
“We gave her the works,” says Charlie Baldwin, head of the Property Management team. The majority of TAN’s condos were updated to include new hardwood floors, mattresses, bedspreads, pillows and blankets. All units received a fresh coat of paint. According to the general manager of Advantage Services, TAN’s onsite cleaning and management company, the response has been overwhelming. “Everyone seems to really love it!”
The resort was built in four different phases and each has its own personality. The original development (the A Building) recently received exterior renovations from the Homeowners Association. While work was being done on the building, the resort also added a lazy river around the existing pool and which proved to be a huge hit last year. The second phase (the B Building) allowed for an oceanfront pool between the A and B buildings.
The B building is also known as the winter building because an indoor pool was a big feature added. These first two sections are very similar in that they are perpendicular to the ocean, each is five stories high and the room layouts are very similar. The last two sections are extremely different – the Five Seasons section and the Renaissance Towers. The Towers, as its name would indicate, is a high rise of studios, one bedroom and two bedroom condominium units that each seek a partial ocean view. While you lose the folksy beach feel of the original two buildings, you pick up a very modern feel with some high rise partial ocean views. The resort is planning to add two more elevators next winter to accommodate the popularity of this venue.
Minutes from the hustle and bustle of downtown Myrtle Beach, the resort is easy to get to, easy to find, and within driving distance of all the area’s best attractions. Onsite amenities at the MBR include four outdoor pools and two indoor pools, three health spas, a waterpark featuring a 375 foot lazy river and wet deck, tennis courts, a basketball court, a children’s activities program and direct access to over 700 feet of white, sandy beach.
Voted “Golf Destination of the Year” in 2002 by the International Association of Golf Tour Operators, and “Best Family Beach” in 2003 by the Travel Channel, the Myrtle Beach area is a must-do for every TAN traveler. Although the summer months are already sold out, we have units available now and in the fall. Call Total Vacation Services today or go to www.planwithtan.com to book this vacation desTANation.
