Even though about 100 inches of snow falls on Granby, Colo., each year, it would be a mistake to think this city is only about skiing. Yes, SolVista Ski Basin offers family fun at affordable rates, and Winter Park Resort gives more advanced skiers a challenging day on the slopes, but Granby goes beyond winter sports like snowmobiling, ice fishing, dog sledding and snowshoeing.
Tucked into a valley at the base of the Colorado Rocky Mountains, Granby serves as quick access to Colorado State Forest State Park, home to 50 miles of marked hiking trails, 112 miles of mountain bike and horseback trails and 75 miles of four-wheel driving trails. And with Rocky Mountain National Park nearby, too, visitors may choose to take an afternoon to go boating, rafting, lake fishing or golfing at Grand Elk, Pole Creek, Grand Lake or Headwaters golf courses. Visitors can also experience a rodeo every weekend in Granby, or relax in the Hot Sulphur Springs, just a few minutes down the road.
